Community Service
It takes a whole village to raise a child - Proverb
Born and raised in Chitakatira Village, outside the City of Mutare in Zimbabwe, I found it appropriate to give back to that community.
In 2005, I founded the Ndaramo Wellness Institute, home of the Ndaramo Wellness Initiatives (Ndaramo).
About Ndaramo
The Ndaramo Wellness Initiatives is a grassroots Social Enterprise led by women to help alleviate poverty in rural Zimbabwe.
We are dedicated to assisting communities to address issues that impoverish women.
We help them to identify and address the underlying link between women’s education, poverty, and health.
We educate women about the effects of poverty on the health and wellbeing of their families and communities, and how support one another in introducing and implementing low-cost and practical solutions at the local level.
Mission
The Ndaramo Wellness Institute exists to help women to recognize their inert power and use it responsibly. Ndaramo Wellness Initiatives (Ndaramo) strive for excellence in improving quality of life through Holistic Self-Management Education and Support.
Vision
Healthy and Happy Families
Motto
Women: The Foundation for Healthy and Happy Families (Mwana Ndimai; Musha Mukadzi)
Core Values
Ndaramo Core Values are similar to those of the Efficient Programs Design Consulting.
Services
Ndaramo assists rural women to develop and manage small income generation projects.
Ndaramo encourages rural women to use available resources and improve the health and quality of the lives of their families.
Ndaramo connects Zimbabwean rural women with individuals and organizations that are interested in Human Development. These include, but are not limited to educational, public health, and funding professionals and organizations.
Ndaramo reaches out to other grassroots organizations in order to work collaboratively to improve the health and quality of women and children's lives.
In collaboration with such organizations, Ndaramo facilitates learning and provides material support for women interested in helping themselves.
Clients/Program Participants
Ndaramo Wellness Programs are available to individuals who do not have easy access to education, but are interested in learning how to enhance the health and quality of lives of their families and communities.
Most educational services at the Ndaramo Wellness Institute are provided at little or no cost to the participating individual.
As a service to humanity, we share our research with other Social Science Researchers as a contribution to understanding social development issues.
Approach: Grassroots Capacity Building in Two Easy Steps
We apply Holistic Self-Management Education and Support to facilitate Community-Based Participatory Action and build community capacity for self sustenance in two easy steps.
Step 1:
We assist rural women about the causes and effects of poverty on the health and wellbeing of their families and communities.
Step 2:
We show them how to support one another in introducing and implementing low-cost practical solutions at local level.
Research and Development
Ndaramo Wellness Initiatives trains its trainers, data collectors, and other program personnel.
Data collected from the Ndaramo Wellness Initiatives is used for program enhancement.
With permission from program participants, some of the lessons learned from the Ndaramo Wellness Initiatives is shared with stakeholders, sponsors, and other interested parties.
